Our Vision
At Good Shepherd Parish we will strive
To love with the heart of Christ;
To think with the mind of Christ;
To act as the body of Christ.
Our Mission
To know Christ more fully,
To love and serve Him more faithfully,
To make Him better known to others.
"...with God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26
Parish Ministries & Organizations
Healing Ministry for the mind and spirit. Parish nurse Rev. Fran Clark, Dcn. promotes physical healing through health education and spiritual counseling. Blood pressure checks quarterly, health advisor, and referal service during coffee hour each Sunday. Future projects - community Red Cross Blood Drive and Health Fair.
Lay Eucharistic Visiting Ministers are a group of parishioners that have been taught by the priest of our parish and sanctioned by the Bishop of the Diocese to assist the priest in the delivering of the sacrament. The LEM usually will fulfill this duty by visiting shut-ins monthly and bringing them prayers and a portion of the service which includes the sharing on the blessed sacraments. In keeping with the church family concept, visiting the sick and the infirm helps us to extend our family by sharing the healing power of prayer and sacrament.
Christian Education - Sunday School meets each week at 9:30 a.m. for everyone 3 years old and up.
Youth Group, ages 10 to 18, offer fun and learning for all our children. Our youth are encouraged to participate in every facet of our parish life. They may be found at weekend camp and parish events as well as serving at the altar, singing in the choir, or sitting on the vestry. Christian Education, however, does not stop with our youth. Adults can take advantage of many learning opportunities throughout the year. There are instructional courses for those who are interested in any of our various lay ministries.
God's Interfaith Food Table (GIFT), a consortium of four local churches of which Good Shepherd is a member, is located at the Centenary Methodist Church in the building directly behind the church at 149 White Horse Pike in Berlin.
